This stream combines the relevant portions of mechatronics system modeling,sensors, actuators, controllers and real-time computer interfacing. The course focuses on all the topics needed to develop a good understanding of the basic principles used in mechatronics engineering.
It is a blend of rich knowledge of engineering streams such as mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science & instrumentation and information technology, which includes control systems used to design products with built-in intelligence.
There is a lot of scope for Mechatronics Engineering as it incorporates the ideas of electronics and mechanical engineering under single entity. It is an emerging field of engineering and presents flexible opportunities with diverse engineering backgrounds. Some of the fields are Automation and robotics, Machine vision Sensing and control systems Design of Subsystems for Automotive engineering, Medical Mechatronics and Medical Imaging Systems. Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of electronics, mechanical and computer systems integrated through control architecture. Mechatronics engineers have excellent employment prospects as it is combining the knowledge of mechanical and electronic systems.
The demand for qualified professionals with multidisciplinary skills has increased in recent years. Professional mechatronics engineers are typically found in positions where they are responsible for integrated computer controlled mechanical and electrical systems such as those found in the manufacturing and mining industries. They are also employed in electrical plants and companies where automation and process control is required. Career opportunities in this fast-changing field exist in both public industries as well as in private enterprises.
